A man wanted by gardaí in connection with the Regency Hotel shooting is due before a court in Belfast later.

The PSNI arrested the man on foot of a European Arrest Warrant in Co Tyrone yesterday.

Police in the North say the 46-year-old is being sought by gardaí in connection with murder and firearms offences.

He was arrested by the PSNI in Strabane yesterday.

The man is due to appear before a court in Belfast this afternoon, on foot of a European Arrest Warrant.

Last night, the PSNI confirmed the offences relate to the Regency Hotel shooting.

David Byrne was shot dead when a gang of men burst into the Dublin Hotel during a boxing weigh in last February.

The murder is seen as the starting point of the so-called Kinahan-Hutch gangland feud.
