Michelle Keegan has admitted that she is too embarrassed to watch herself being interviewed.

The former Corrie star – who drew criticism this week when she said during an interview that football “wasn’t a major sport in the 60s” – said she does not like to see herself answering questions on screen.

However, she is happy to watch herself playing other people.

Michelle, 29, told Radio Times magazine: “I can’t watch interviews with myself, I get embarrassed.

“But when I’m in character it doesn’t feel like I’m watching me.”

“It’s weird,” she added.

The actress made the comment about football during an interview with BBC Breakfast, as she was promoting her BBC series Our Girl.

She said back in the 60s “people really didn’t know anything about football, it wasn’t like a major sport back then”.

Viewers were quick to react online, as Michelle recently filmed ITV’s three-part drama, Tina And Bobby, which sees her playing the wife of footballer Bobby Moore.
