A new documentary is seeking to analyse the obsession with removing street art from its intended location.

Saving Banksy features commentary from a number of prominent graffiti artists from across the globe, sharing their thoughts on the culture of reselling what becomes prized art when it’s discovered to be a Banksy.

The documentary follows the true story of a “misguided” art collector’s attempts save a Banksy from the auction block, with Colin Day directing and narration from Paul Polycarpou.

Banksy has occasionally offered his/her view on the incredible prices the illustrations can fetch at auctions, writing on his website the day after three works were sold in 2007 “I can’t believe you morons actually buy this shit”, while a shot form the documentary shows a piece of art reading “this’ll look nice when it’s framed”.

The date for the documentary’s release is as yet unconfirmed.
