A body of a man has been recovered from the River Shannon in Limerick city, writes David Raleigh.
The body of the man, understood to be aged in his 50s, was discovered washed up on the bank of the river at low tide, beneath St Michael’s Rowing Club, around 2pm this afternoon.
Swiftwater rescue technicians attached to Limerick City and County Fire and Rescue Service recovered the man’s remains.
An ambulance, which had also responded, was stood down after the man was pronounced dead at the riverbank.
A local undertaker removed the body around 2.45pm to the morgue at University Hospital Limerick for a post mortem.
Gardaí do not suspect foul play.
