Bread week on The Great British Bake Off gave rise to many cheeky innuendos, once again many of them from host Sue Perkins, who was back after an absence last week.

But she wasn’t the only one kneading her funny side to get the best dough-based jokes out of the third episode of the series.

Check out some of the best innuendos of the week:

Mel Giedroyc and Sue Perkins (BBC/Love Productions/Mark Bourdillon)

Sue announcing this week’s theme.
“It’s bread week – this is your chance to get your dough prodded by Paul Hollywood’s digits of doom.”

Rav Bansal gets hopeful about his ability to produce bread.
“It is small, but I’m hoping for a good rise on it.”

Sue, commenting on one of the bakers’ Signature Challenge bakes.
“This is one of the most manually explored breads I’ve ever seen.”

Sue and baker Kate Barmby on how her Technical Challenge was faring.
Sue: Kate, how are your balls?
Kate: I’m just pinching their bottoms.

Jane Beedle on her baking technique.
“I’ve got to give it enough room to expand, otherwise it gets into one big glob.”

The Great British Bake Off (BBC/Love Productions/Mark Bourdillon)

Candice Brown describing her Showstopper bread bake’s downfall.
“Oh look, I’ve got a big old split.”

This week saw the competition’s youngest contestant, 20-year-old student Michael Georgiou, become the latest casualty of the Bake Off tent after failing to impress Paul and Mary Berry with his bakes.
