We’ve already been introduced to the Luke Cage of Marvel’s Netflix universe, through his appearances on Jessica Jones, making the prospect of his own show all the more exciting.

And that excitement will only grow with the latest trailer, showing Luke – played brilliantly by Mike Colter – at his coolest as he does nothing but be himself to inflict some serious pain.

The first season is due to drop on September 30 and each episode is said to have a huge hip hop influence, with artists such as Method Man consulted for the show’s sound.

Marvel received great reviews for Jessica Jones, Luke’s super-powered girlfriend, for its refreshingly honest and open take on domestic violence – and Luke Cage is set to continue the socially conscious theme of this Marvel universe with one of the show’s creators labelling it “unapologetically black”.

We can’t wait.
