Gardaí have arrested two people and seized a firearm following the search of a vehicle on the M1 at Lusk, Co Dublin.

During the search of the car yesterday evening at 8.30pm, gardaí recovered a 3.65 calibre handgun.

The occupants of the car, a man in his 50s and a woman in her 30s, were arrested.

Both are detained under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act 1939 at Drogheda Garda Station.
