A 28-year-old man has been arrested following a robbery at a bookie shop in Co Mayo.

A man threatened a staff member in the premises on Castle Street in Castlebar at 9.10pm last night before leaving the scene on foot with a sum of cash.

No one was injured during the incident.

During a follow-up operation a man was arrested and a sum of cash was recovered.

The man is currently detained at Castlebar garda station and investigations are ongoing.
