Gardaí are investigating after a man ended up in critical condition at a Soapbox Derby in Tipperary.
The man, Donie Walsh, who is in his 50’s, was a stewart at the Soapbox Derby in Roscrea when one of the carts lost control and struck the stewart.
Mr Walsh was rushed to Limerick University Hospital where he is being treated for head injuries.
Both the HSA and the Gardaí are carrying out separate investigations and the local council is also carrying out an internal probe.
Friend of the victim, Joe Quinn is attempting to highlight the danger associated with Soapbox racing and urging people to have the proper insurance and training when organising such events.
