Katie Price has opened up once again about her ex-boyfriend Dwight Yorke and his relationship with their 14-year-old son Harvey.
The reality TV star claimed the former footballer hasn’t seen their child in “around eight years” and that he “refused to understand” Harvey’s condition.
Harvey suffers from rare genetic condition Prader-Willi syndrome, leaving him with a constant desire to eat food which causes him to gain weight, as well as being on the autistic spectrum and blind.
In excerpts from the 38-year-old’s new autobiography Reborn, she revealed all about her eldest’s father and the struggle Dwight, 44, has with his son.
She wrote: “The last time Harvey’s biological father Dwight Yorke saw him, which was around eight years ago, the first thing he asked was why Harvey was so big. Why was I overfeeding him?”
She continued, in the extract serialised in The Sun: “I’d explained Harvey’s condition to Dwight many times, but he refused to understand it and kept going on about him being fat.
“It’s sad that he is unable to accept Harvey for who he is and seems unable or unwilling to work within his limitations.”
She went on to claim that she thinks her former flame “wanted to blame someone” over his son’s disability, and that she has “always said that if Dwight could see what a courageous and talented boy Harvey is then he would enjoy being with him so much”.
She added: “For me, it’s impossible to understand why a little boy’s dad wouldn’t make contact after being sent snaps of his son opening his birthday presents, learning swing ball, or giggling his head off on a quad bike. They are such precious moments.”
Katie also likened Dwight to comedian Frankie Boyle, who she has previously slammed for making jokes about her son’s disabilities.
“Dwight’s actions are so disappointing and I have come to the conclusion that, like [Frankie] Boyle, he is another true coward,” she wrote.
“Over the past few years I’ve continuously had to defend Harvey from cruelty and ignorance. Like many parents in my situation, I don’t want sympathy or pity but do wish for more empathy and understanding.”
She went on to praise her teenage son as being a “gorgeous, funny, smart, mischievous and incredibly courageous little boy who plays a central and positive role in our family”.
Katie is married to Kieran Hayler, with whom she has two children: son Jett, three, and daughter Bunny two. She also has two children – 11-year-old son Junior and daughter Princess Tiaamii, nine – with ex-husband Peter Andre.
