The Great British Bake Off will be hosted on Channel 4, it’s been confirmed.

The BBC said they would have loved to have kept the show but added they were “a considerable distance apart on the money”.

Location, Location, Location presenter Kirstie Allsopp has aired her views on Twitter, saying it is not “a smart move”.

She then added later:

So far, none of the presenters or judges have commented, but Sue Perkins did re-tweet the statement the BBC released.

She’s not the only person to have their say on the news.

Here is what celebrities and fans are saying:

Former Bake Off contestant Richard Burr aired his feelings:

People are already speculating about the ad break element…

Sometimes only a Bake Off pun will do…

A Marvel makeover for Mary Berry?

Cue The Beatles lyrics: ‘We can work it out…’

Fans will still get their Bake Off fix next year though as Channel 4 has confirmed the first instalment will be a celebrity version of the show, in aid of Stand Up To Cancer.
