The fans of Dutch football side Den Haag are the heroes of the weekend, after one of the sweetest gestures we’ve ever seen at a football match.
Dan Haag were playing away to Feyenoord yesterday and the fans were made aware that a contingent of young patients from Sophia Children’s Hospital in Rotterdam were attending the match and would be placed near the away end.
The children walked out onto the pitch with the teams before the game and were then seated in the stands for the game.

But early in the first half they got another treat, when the away fans began raining soft toys and teddy bears down on them.
The Dan Haag fans had arranged it between themselves and at a fixed signal filled the air with multicoloured toys that landed on the children.

The home supporters were delighted to see the kind act, rising to give the away fans a standing ovation.
A fabulous gesture that helped make the children’s day even more special.

Feyenoord won the match 3-1 but the Den Haag supporters were the real stars of the day.
