Denise Welch is getting an online certificate to be able to perform pal Angela Lonsdale’s wedding ceremony.
Actress Angela, who can currently be seen starring as Michelle Keegan’s character’s mum in BBC drama Our Girl, appeared on ITV chat show Lorraine this morning where she revealed her quirky wedding plan.
Talking about her fiance Jonny Davies, who she got engaged to last year in New York, she said: “He proposed on the Brooklyn bridge, with a load of tourists coming up behind.
“We haven’t set a date, we’ve just spent a year doing the house, but Denise [Welch] is going to marry us. She’s going to go online and do a course.”
Putting on an impression of Denise, she said: “‘If it’s good enough for Robbie Williams, it’s good enough for me.’ So that’s set in stone, but the venue or nothing else is sorted yet.”
Singer Robbie got an internet qualification to marry friend Billy Morrison and his partner Jennifer Holiday in 2002, when he apparently completed his training in just 48 hours.
Angela, who was previously married to EastEnders star Perry Fenwick, added that she would love to return to ITV soap Coronation Street one day, where she played Emma Taylor who married Curly Watts, and where Denise and Michelle also played well-loved characters.
She said: “Never say never, Lorraine. No, I would love to if they asked me to go back, you know I’m still very much in touch with everybody. I live round the corner from them now so I still see Samia [Ghadie, who plays Maria Connor] and Denise, and Simon [Gregson, who plays Steve McDonald], so yeah, I still see them all after all these years, which is lovely.”
