The latest Luke Cage trailer gives the first look at Mahershala Ali’s portrayal of Cottonmouth, Luke’s biggest nemesis.

The short clip zeroes in on the hip hop influence said to run right through the series, with the drug kingpin, not to be confused with Marvel’s snake-themed villain of the same name, giving a short speech on the Notorious B.I.G. painting hanging on his wall.

Cottonmouth, played by House Of Cards’ Remy, had a hand in the events which led to Luke Cage first acquiring superpowers, and himself benefits from super-strength.

The villains in Netflix’s Marvel universe have so far been some of the highlights, from Daredevil’s Wilson Fisk to Jessica Jones’ Kilgrave, and with our first glimpse of Cornell Stokes/Cottonmouth it looks like Luke Cage will be no different.

The series will be available in full from September 30.
