Amid all the furore over The Great British Bake Off’s departure from the BBC, we needed some good TV news to put us in a good mood again.

And it’s happened, as Lord Sugar has teased the new series of The Apprentice, writing that it’s set to hit screens in October, but failing to reveal the actual start date.

The businessman shared the briefest of teaser clips on Twitter, showing himself sat behind the table in the iconic boardroom, drawing the shape of an O in the air and telling fans to look out for the clip on TV.

It was already known that the 12th series of the popular business programme was going to start next month, so we’re hoping that it’s at the start of the month rather than at the Halloween end.

Lord Sugar will be joined again by his aides, Karren Brady and Claude Littner – who replaced Nick Hewer in 2015 – as they once again have to whittle down a business partner for the mogul.

While there is little more to go on, fans have been left rather excited by his tweet, responding to the video in their droves.

Many messages were of a giddy nature, thrilled to see some semblance of the forthcoming new series, while others just joked about the show being sold to Channel 4, just like Bake Off.

“Glad to see you’ve not been sold off to C4 just yet Lord Sugar!” one wrote.

Another tweeter added: “Well at least the best show on the BBC isn’t going off to Channel 4!”
