The ex-wife of late musician Prince will release an “intimate memoir” documenting the couple’s “highs and lows”.

Actress, singer and dancer Mayte Garcia announced the news on Tuesday in a statement with Hachette Books.

The statement added the memoir will be called The Most Beautiful, a title inspired by Prince’s 1994 hit ballad The Most Beautiful Girl In The World, which was written for Mayte.

Mayte said she and Prince had an “almost otherworldly connection” and that she wanted to share their story, “the highs and lows” in an “intimate memoir”.

The pair met in 1990 at a Prince gig and married six years later on Valentine’s Day. Almost immediately after the marriage she fell pregnant but their son died a week after birth. The couple divorced in 2000.

The book will be released in April 2017 – marking one year since the singer’s death.
