It’s been over 10 years since J Dilla’s death and his influence is still felt in hip-hop, specifically thanks to his production style.
A museum due to open later this month, Washington DC’s National Museum of African American History and Culture, will be including J Dilla’s very own MPC – or music production controller.
The MPC helped him put together some of his most famous projects, including Welcome To Detroit, Champion Sound, and the landmark instrumental hip-hop masterpiece Donuts.
It will be available for viewing at the museum when it opens later this month on September 24.
The museum will also include Huddle “Lead Belly” Ledbetter’s guitar as well as the Parliament Funkadelic “Mothership” stage prop from George Clinton’s home.
