Grime artist Skepta scopped the 25th Mercury Prize, beating off competition from favourite David Bowie.

The north London-born singer collected the award and the £25,000 prize for his fourth studio album Konnichiwa at the ceremony held at the Eventim Apollo in Hammersmith, London.

Talking about his win, he didn’t forget the most important person in his life: His mum.

Skepta made the final six alongside the late Bowie, twice-nominated Laura Mvula, five-times-nominated Radiohead, The 1975 and Michael Kiwanuka.
