James Scully has qualified for the final of the men’s S5 100 metres freestyle on the last full day of action at the Paralympics in Rio.

His personal best time of 1:21.15 in his heat saw him qualify for the final as the eighth fastest qualifier.

In the medal race of the sonar class sailing, the Irish team of John Twomey, Austin O’Carroll and Ian Costelloe are competing.

In cycling, Katie-George Dunlevy and Eve McCrystal will be hoping to add to their gold medals won in Wednesday’s time trail when they go in the Women’s Tandem Road Race at 5.05pm.

At 5pm, Damien Vereker and Sean Hahessy and Peter Ryan and Marcin Mizgajski go in the men’s Tandem B Road Race.

And later tonight, Noelle Lenihan takes part in the F38 Discus final at around 9.35pm.
