Dublin and Mayo will have to reschedule any holiday plans as the two counties must prepare for the trip back to Croke Park in October, writes Stephen Barry.
The first football final to go to a replay since Kerry and Galway in 2000 will be replayed on Saturday week, October 1, with a 5pm throw-in time.
Croke Park stadium director Peter McKenna told the Irish Examiner on Saturday that the GAA “could have sold 120,000 tickets for the final, without doubt”.
Demand will certainly remain high if the GAA continue their recent precedent from the three replayed hurling finals this decade and reduce ticket prices for the second day out.
On those occasions stand tickets were lowered from €80 to €50 and terrace tickets brought down from €40 to €25.
Juvenile tickets were also made available for €10.
Former Liverpool and Germany footballer turned RTÉ pundit Didi Hamann was the first to make his case for a ticket.
What a game that was, great effort by both teams. Let's try to get a ticket sorted for the replay #DUBvMAYO
