The Tánaiste Frances Fitzgerald has told the UN summit on refugees and migrants, that Ireland is ready to play its part in addressing the crisis.

Speaking in New York, the Justice Minister said the humanitarian challenge requires a global response.

Minister Fitzgerald told the summit that Ireland recognises that more needs to be done.

She said the Irish government is open to seeing what can be done in cooperation with others to end the suffering of so many people.


Minister Frances Fitzgerald addresses the United Nations Summit for Refugees and Migrants, in the Trusteeship Council Chamber of the United Nations.
