Strictly fever is ramping up ahead of the first live shows this weekend, and our appetites have been whetted with a first look at the dancing couples trying out their moves together.

Giving us our glitter fix for the next couple of days, the BBC One show has released some sparkling shots of the dancefloor hopefuls getting into the swing of the competition.

Sure, you can’t tell from a picture who’s going to be bringing home the glitterball trophy this year, but if we had to place bets based on these snaps, we’d say BBC Breakfast presenter Naga Munchetty and her partner Pasha Kovalev look like they’ve got a pretty good chance.

He’s the one we’ve all been waiting to see – Ed Balls is looking very dapper with partner Katya Jones.

TV presenter Laura Whitmore looks like she’s been getting on well with her training with Giovanni Pernice.

Looking particularly well matched are the contest’s tall couple, Olympic long jumper Greg Rutherford and Natalie Lowe…

…while Team Pocket Rocket Melvin Odoom and Janette Manrara look like they’re still having the most fun.

Former Hollyoaks star Danny Mac and Oti Mabuse look like they could be the ones to watch.

Olympic gymnast Claudia Fragapane is unsurprisingly already comfortable with being lifted by AJ Pritchard.

Seeming like they might be the ones to bring a touch of class to the show are pop star Will Young and his partner Karen Clifton.

Also hailing from the Clifton clan is Kevin, who’s been training with ex pop star Louise Redknapp.

And making it a trio of Cliftons is Joanne and her BBC Sport presenter partner Ore Oduba, who are looking dancefloor ready.

Anton Du Beke might just have found a partner he can progress in the competition with in Lesley Joseph.

Star singer Anastacia looks like she’s been holding up well to Brendan Cole’s famously tough regime.

Another training room toughie is Aljaz Skorjanec, but it appears that model Daisy Lowe has learned plenty of new poses from him already.

EastEnder Tameka Empson showed us in the launch episode that she would bring some real sparkle to the show, and it looks like that’s still the case in her photoshoot with Gorka Marquez.

No judging here, but TV’s Judge Rinder looks to be on good form with Oksana Platero.

We can’t wait to see them in action this Friday on BBC One.
