STUDENTS, TEACHERS, Principals and parents across Wexford town were celebrating on Wednesday last as Junior Certificate results were released.
Hundreds of pupils sat the state examination in 2016, the last time for it to be conducted entirely in its current format.
For students in third year of second-level education this year and in subsequent years, subjects beginning with English will be examined in a changed structure.
The Junior Certificate class of 2016, however, had much to smile about when they received their results’ envelopes last week.
“It was great, we were delighted with our students,” Loreto Secondary School Principal Billy O’Shea said.
At St. Peter’s College, 132 boys completed the exam.
Principal Robert O’Callaghan was in buoyant form following the release of results and told the Wexford Echo that “our boys worked really hard and achieved to the best of their ability.
“Those that put in a big effort were well rewarded,” Mr. O’Callaghan added.
Meanwhile at Selskar College, Principal Eimear Ryan was very pleased with the over 70 students who received results.
