Despite signing a multi-year deal with the American promoters Top Rank, one of Michael Conlan’s first professional fights could be in Ireland.
Conlan’s deal with Bob Arum’s promotion could see him take on as many as six fights in 2017, and the first of those is penciled in for St. Patrick’s weekend in New York.

Arum says Conlan will also fight in Boston and in Ireland.
The 2012 Olympic bronze medallist joins a promotion stable that includes Manny Pacquiao, but will be managed by Matthew Macklin.
Macklin said that the 24-year-old has netted “by far” the biggest signing-on fee in Irish boxing history.
