THE LOCAL branch of the RNLI gathered together at the RNLI Boathouse by Wexford Bridge on Tuesday last to pay their respects to Caitríona Lucas who tragically died during a rescue operation.

The mother-of-two was a very active member of the Doolin Coast Guard and had been the first to respond to the call for the mission that cost her her life.

The 41-year-old librarian is survived by her husband Bernard, who is also a member of the Coast Guard, her son Ben (20) and daughter Emma (18).

Members of Wexford emergency services gathered on Tuesday evening to lay a wreath on the water in memory of Ms. Lucas.
