GardaĆ are awaiting the results of tests on a bone discovered on the banks of the River Shannon in Co Clare, to establish whether it is human, writes Stephen Rogers.
At around 1.30pm this afternoon gardaĆ received a report that the bone had been discovered on the river bank at Doonass in Clonlara.
“The scene was examined and the bone was removed to University Hospital Limerick to determine what type of bone it is,” a garda spokesman said.
“When it is determined whether it is animal or human that will determine the course of the investigation.”
He confirmed there was only one bone discovered.
