The Government will announce details of its plans on dealing with the homeless crisis today.
The Action Plan for Housing and Homelessness will be launched by Taoiseach Enda Kenny, along with Housing Minister Simon Coveney and other members of Cabinet later today.
It will include an update of the progress made so far on the issue.
It comes as new figures released this week show 2,000 children are living in emergency accommodation.
Earlier this week the Simon Community said that homeless figures in Dublin were at an all-time high with 168 people sleeping rough on Monday night.
The charity counted a 32% rise in rough sleepers last year even though 195 new emergency beds have been provided in the capital since Jonathan Corrie was found dead on a doorstep near Leinster House in December 2014.
