It’s been a few months now since Gucci Mane was released from prison, an experience he said changed his life for the better – and not just because it helped him lose 80 pounds.

“If I just do the right thing, I have no ceiling,” sums up Gucci’s attitude towards life now, as he reaffirmed his commitment to stay away from alcohol and drugs, keep working hard at the music and never go back to prison.

His new album, the second since he regained his freedom, is due out on October 14 and the Atlanta native sat down with Funk Flex to talk about the next generation, Drake, his love for Young Thug, his relationship with Waka Flocka Flame, fitness and his forthcoming autobiography.

“There’s nothing in Atlanta that moves that I don’t touch,” Gucci said as he mentioned his desire to work with some of the new generation, including 21 Savage, Lil Uzi Vert and Lil Yachty.

A lot of the column inches dedicated to this generation are negative, with a whole new genre seemingly created to define them, termed as “mumble rap”. But Gucci’s take on it is pretty different to a lot of other veterans who’ve had their say on the matter.

“[I’m trying to work with] anyone the kids say is hot. At the end of day it’s a different generation… but instead of me judging, I embrace it and support it, and commend them.”

As for his collaboration mixtape with Drake, Guwop revealed there are still plans for that. But given that he’s only just come off house arrest and Drake has been touring, their schedules haven’t allowed it thus far. “It’ll be a great thing to do, but we gotta find time to do it.”
