It wouldn’t be surprising if Paul Hollywood was feeling a little out of sorts at the moment.

First, the BBC loses The Great British Bake Off to Channel 4, then presenters Mel Giedroyc and Sue Perkins announce they won’t be moving with it, and now the news that his co-judge Mary Berry will also mark the end of her time on the show with the current series.

But ever the friendly fella, chef Jamie Oliver decided to cheer baker Paul up by giving him a warm welcome to his new broadcasting home.

Channel 4 regular Jamie had been rumoured to be a new signing for the cake contest, but confirmed it wasn’t the case in an interview with the Daily Telegraph.

He said: “As much as I would get massive cred from my kids for having any kinda role, I’ve totally got my hands full even if I was asked, which I haven’t been. I’m sure they’ll pick the new hosts wisely – I’m just as keen to see who they are as you are!”
