At the turn of the year, it’s highly probable the average football fan hadn’t the foggiest who Marcus Rashford was.

But at a time when the football was turgid and the players uninspiring at Manchester United, the young forward has been a breath of fresh air at Old Trafford.

And on his EFL Cup debut last night against Northampton Town, Rashford did what he’s been doing for the past six months.

The goal continued the England international’s remarkable record of goalscoring.

He’s making it all look a bit easy, isn’t he?

Some people enjoyed the unusual nature of the finish, as Marcus blasted the ball in from little more than a yard out.

Meanwhile, others focused on the hard work he’d done to get there in the first place.

It’s looking a bit ominous for opposition fans…

We thought we’d leave the last word to the man of the moment – will Jose Mourinho have to offer him a starting place?

Here’s a little extra sport. BallTalk TV ask who is the real special one – Jose Mourinho or Pep Guardiola?
