Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho launched a scathing attack on his critics when interviewed after Wednesday’s 3-1 win over Northampton.
The EFL Cup victory brought to an end a short run of defeats for the club and the Portuguese manager had plenty to say about those who painted the club as being in crisis after three losses.
“I know that some football Einsteins – football is full of Einsteins – I know that they tried to delete 16 years of my career,” Mourinho said to MUTV.
“They tried to delete an unbelievable history of Man United football club and to focus on a bad week with three bad results. But that’s the new football – it’s full of Einsteins.
He also called on the club’s fans to rally around the team for their next Premier League game. United welcome Leicester to Old Trafford in the early kick-off on Saturday.
“I can understand clearly the disappointment if the fans are disappointed with the last week. I understand completely but I’m sure that with the team going back home they will be behind the team like they always are.”
