Thousand of commuters are facing severe travel disruption again today as the sixth day of the Dublin Bus strike gets underway.

Business owners in the capital say the strikes are costing them thousands of euro in trade.

Drivers at the company are in a long-running row with management over pay, with 13 more strike days scheduled for this month and next.

Siptu organiser John Murphy says it is time they have some meaningful engagement.

He said: “The reason why this dispute was called in the first place and is progressing, and will progress further, is because of the lack of meaningful negotiation and discussions having taken place between ourselves, Dublin Bus management and the actual people who could have resolved this, as in the National Transport Authority or the Department of Transport and the Minister involved.

“We haven’t had any discussions.”
