Labour MP Yvette Cooper sent her husband – and former Labour shadow chancellor – Ed Balls a good luck message before his Strictly Come Dancing debut on Saturday.

Yvette, who couldn’t be at the BBC show because she’s at the Labour party conference in Liverpool, sent her husband a series of messages on Twitter and managed to find a big screen to watch him.

Ed’s “surprisingly conservative” waltz – according to judge Bruno Tonioli – scored just 21 points putting him bottom of the leaderboard, but Yvette didn’t seem to mind.

And Ed sent his own message back after his performance, telling Strictly’s Tess Daly: “I hope that everyone is having a good time in Liverpool.”
