A jubilant family from Co. Louth made the trip to National Lottery headquarters in Dublin today to collect a cheque for €500,000 after they won the top prize in the EuroMillions Plus draw on Friday September 09.
The winners, who wish to keep their win private bought their quick pick selection ticket in Tesco in the Longwalk Shopping Centre in Dundalk, Co. Louth on the day of the draw.
The winning husband and father beamed as he described how he had purchased the winning ticket on a recent visit to the Longwalk Shopping Centre.
“Every Friday, my wife would do the grocery shopping in the local supermarket and I would buy our tickets for the EuroMillions. When we returned to the shop the following week I noticed the signs in the store saying that they had sold a €500,000 winning ticket.
“I scanned my tickets on the ticket scanner and all of a sudden I realised, oh my god, it’s me! I’ve just won a half a million euro!” he said.
Discussing how they would spend their €500,000 win, the dad said, “This win is all about our kids. We will invest in some property and get our children onto the property ladder and give them the best start to their adult life,” he added.
