€1.2m worth of cannabis has been seized by gardaí in Tipperary under Operation Overwatch.

Gardaí from the Tipperary Divisional Drugs Unit together with Detective, Uniform, Community Gardai and Gardaí from the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau and Garda Dog unit carried out a number of planned drugs operations between 26-30 September.

As part of the operation, 26 locations were searched and nine suspects were arrested for possession of drugs for sale and supply under section 15 misuse of drugs act.

According to gardaí, a total of 34 penal warrants and 14 bench warrants were executed, with the individuals currently appearing before the District Court.

There were three significant finds made from the operation, a cannabis grow house was located in Ballykisteen with drugs to the value of €7,000, pending analysis.

A male, aged 26, was arrested and released without charge and a file is being prepared for the DDP.

A second grow house was discovered in Nenagh with drugs to the value of €20,000. A man in his 40’s was arrested and charged and remanded on bail to appear at Nenagh district court on October 14.

Finally what is being described as ‘a sophisticated grow house’ was found in Hollyford, Tipperary.

Controlled drugs to the value of €1.1m was discovered and two men in their 40’s were also arrested and detained at Thurles and Templemore Garda Station.
