Alcohol is a factor in 29% of the fatal motorcycle collisions.
That’s a finding of a new analysis of Garda forensic crash reports for the period 2008 to 2012.
93 motorcyclists were killed during that four year period.
Half of those killed in alcohol-linked motorbike crashes were at least four times over the legal limit.
57% of drink-related fatal bike crashes happened on a Sunday – with early evening the worst time.
The study’s been compiled by The Road Safety Authority for Road Safety Week, which runs until Sunday.
