Amnesty International will hold a demonstration at the Egyptian Embassy in Ballsbridge in Dublin this evening, in protest at the trial of Irishman Ibrahim Halawa being delayed for the 15th time.

His trial isnow due to take place on November 12.

Ibrahim Halawa has now spent 38 months in prison.

Yesterday, Foreign Affairs Minister Charlie Flanagan expressed his concerns to Egypt’s Ambassador to Ireland about the further delay.

Director of Amnesty International Ireland, Colm O’Gorman, says the situation appears to Ibrahim and his family to be completely hopeless, adding: “He’s an Irish citizen, born and bred here in Dublin.

“You have a 17-year-old boy arrested in 2013; he’s now a 20-year-old man (pictured), who has at this point very little hope of ever securing a fair trial. It’s very difficult to see now how all of this will end.”
