A couple from Kerry can’t believe their luck after being one of two ticketholders to win the Lotto last weekend writes Roisin Burke.

The duo, who won €2,266,323, celebrated at the National Lottery with champagne.

Speaking for the pair, the syndicate spokesperson said it must have been fate as a black cat crossed their path.

The couple, who wish to remain private, bought their ticket in Hannah Mary’s Country Store XL in Killorglin, Co Kerry.

The other winning ticket was bought in Centra Foodmarket in Carrigart, Letterkenny, Co Donegal.

The lucky Donegal ticketholder has not yet come forward to claim his fortune.
