The Government is to go ahead with an all-island dialogue on Brexit on November 2, although the DUP is unlikely to attend.

The Cabinet said work on preparing for Britain’s exit from the EU would now intensify after Teresa May signalled she will trigger the departure by next Spring.

Ministers agreed that Budget 2017 will include measures which will support the overall economic response to Brexit.

Taoiseach Enda Kenny added the all-island dialogue would not be about just politicians, saying: “All political parties who wish to attend (the first meeting) will be invited, but we also need to deal with sectoral areas such as business, employers, unions, NGOs, local authorities in border regions and others”.
