It is being reported that Ryan Giggs was snubbed by Swansea in their search for a new manager.
Francesco Guidolin, who joined the club back in January when they were battling relegation, has been replaced by former United States boss Bob Bradley.
Welshman Giggs was interviewed by Swansea chairman Huw Jenkins last week before the Welsh club axed Guidolin on Monday morning.
It is understood that the Manchester United legend had already chosen his former United team-mate Nicky Butt to lead his backroom team.
However, the Swans’ interview panel reportedly had concerns about his lack of managerial experience and also cited an “underwhelming” interview by Giggs.
Giggs, who has won 13 Premier League titles and two Champions Leagues with United, was their interim manager for four games in 2014.
It was revealed by club sources yesterday that the panel had also interviewed Bayern Munich assistant manager Paul Clement and former Villarreal boss Marcelino.
According to the Daily Mail, Jenkins initially favoured Giggs but the club’s American owners, who wanted to give Guidolin more time, thought otherwise and brought in Bob Bradley after Swansea’s defeat to Liverpool on Saturday.
