Former Ireland scrum-half Tomas O’Leary has been left-out of the Munster squad for this season’s European Champions Cup.

The Grand Slam winner has been managing a back complaint this season, which has severely limited his ability to play consecutive weeks.

New recruit Cathal Sheridan has been selected in his place.

Prop John Andress and Australian second-row Mark Chisholm have also been omitted from the squad, with Chisholm continuing his recovery from a concussion-related injury.

New signings Rhys Marshall, Jaco Taute and Alex Wootton are named in the 41-man panel.

Meanwhile, South African Super Rugby franchise the Sharks have moved quickly to ensure that new Munster signing Thomas du Toit won’t be lost to Ireland.

The prop has moved to Limerick on a short-term loan contract, but the Sharks have also tied the 21-year-old down to a three-year deal.
