The Garda Representative Association (GRA) says its open to further discussions with the Justice Minister Frances Fitzgerald.

It comes ahead of a planned “withdrawal of services” by the GRA’s 10,500 members over four days in November.

The organisation has raised concerns over pay and conditions, and has called for full pay restoration for its members.

The GRA’s Central Executive Committee last week unanimously rejected a proposal on pay from the Department of Justice.

The proposals put forward included a commitment to restore increments and the annual rent allowance of around €4,000.

The GRA met with Minister Frances Fitzgerald at the Department of Justice today.

In a short statement released after the meeting, the group said: “There was an open and frank discussion with the Minister around the pay and conditions of Gardaí and the Garda Representative Association ensured the views of their members were heard.”

It adds that further talks will take place in the ‘near future’.
