Limerick Hospital today opens its doors on one of the largest partnership projects in the history of the Irish health service.
A completely new unit for adults with Cystic Fibrosis is being officially opened, providing care for both in-patient and out-patient visits.
The state-of-the-art building has been developed by the Tipperary, Limerick and Clare branches of Cystic Fibrosis Ireland.
CFI CEO Philip Watt says its an amazing achievement: “It was built in a time when we were in an economic crisis and we knew the only way to do this was through fundraising and we got wonderful support from the JP McManus tournament.
“To be fair to the minister he had provided extra staff to run this new ward block so we are very thankful for that.”
