Oscar nominees Michelle Williams and Casey Affleck will bring a gust of cold Massachusetts wind to the capital with the premiere of their movie Manchester By The Sea at the BFI London Film Festival.

In the film, Affleck stars as a janitor dealing with the death of his brother and the news he has become the guardian of his teenage nephew, while Williams plays his estranged wife.

Set in freezing winter in a fishing town outside Boston, the film explores tragedy and grief through flashbacks.

The movie, which also stars Friday Night Lights actor Kyle Chandler, is directed by Kenneth Lonergan – whose previous works include Margaret and You Can Count On Me.

Lonergan, Affleck and Williams are all expected at the premiere at the Odeon in Leicester Square.

The film will be released in UK cinemas on January 13 2017.
