Gardaí investigating a man’s death in Waterford are appealing for two women to come forward.

A 28-year-old man died after he was stabbed in Waterford in the early hours of this morning.

A member of the public alerted Gardaí that a man had been seriously injured on New Street at 3.20am.

The 28-year-old man was taken to University Hospital Waterford where he was pronounced dead.

A 35-year-old man was arrested nearby and is being held under the provisions of Section 4 of The Criminal Justice Act 1984 at Waterford garda station.

Gardaí in Waterford they are appealing to two young women who were in John’s Lane at the Park Lane Apartments between 3am and 4am this morning.

They believe they may have witnessed something in connection with the incident and are asking them to contact the incident room at Waterford on 051-305300, the Garda Confidential Line 1 800 666 111 or any Garda Station.
