In a surreal, meta-type situation, David Beckham has just gone along to Madame Tussauds in London and checked out waxworks of himself and wife Victoria.

The retired football star shared the moment on his Instagram page for his nearly 30 million followers, and took a hilariously awkward snap of himself in front of the models.

He looked slightly different from the clean-shaven, Hugo Boss suit-clad wax version of himself: present day Becks sported a heavy beard and a flat cap.

Along with the snap, he wrote: “Thank you to Nicole and everyone at Madame Tussauds for letting me meet this lovely couple and showing the kids around… ( slightly hairier ) myself not my wife.”

The Beckhams’ waxworks were unveiled at the popular London tourist destination two years ago.

They were honoured by Madame Tussauds with new waxy models to celebrate their 15th wedding anniversary, replacing the previous ones that had stood in the exhibition since 2004.
