They last starred together in The Matrix trilogy. Now Keanu Reeves and Laurence Fishburne have reunited on screen in a new trailer for John Wick: Chapter 2.
Keanu appeared at New York Comic Con to present new footage from the upcoming action thriller, in which he reprises his role as hitman John Wick.
The Hollywood star told the audience at Madison Square Garden he managed to persuade Laurence to star in the sequel after he revealed he was a fan of the original 2014 film.
Keanu said: “We met a social function and he was like, ‘Hey man I really like John Wick’. He was like, ‘Yeah I’ll read the script’.”
Director Chad Stahelsk, who worked as a stunt co-ordinator on The Matrix movies, added: “We sent email after email saying ‘You simply have to do this’.
“We met Laurence in New York and he loved it and that’s how we did our Matrix reunion.”
Keanu and Laurence starred as Neo and Morpheus in all three Matrix films.
Keanu and Chad appeared on the John Wick: Chapter 2 panel at Comic Con with co-stars Common and Ian McShane and writer Derek Kolstad.
The film is due to be released in UK cinemas in February 2017.
