A man in his thirties arrested as part of an investigation into a fatal stabbing in Waterford is due in court in the morning.

In the early hours of yesterday morning, Gardai were called to New Street in the city where they discovered that a 28-year-old man had been stabbed.

He was taken to Waterford Regional Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

A 35-year-old man was arrested nearby under Section 4 of The Criminal Justice Act.

He is due to appear before Waterford District Court at 10:30am tomorrow morning.
