Honey G made it through to the second week of the live stages on The X Factor.

The rapper, whose real name is Anna Georgette Gilford, was put through to the live stages by Overs category mentor Sharon Osbourne, who said she had decided to take a “risk” on the 35-year-old.

The ITV programme’s first live show was dominated by controversial gangster rapper Honey G, who performed last, singing her own version of Tupac’s California Love, and some viewers couldn’t believe she made it through:

Speaking about her performance, Louis Walsh said the late rapper “would be happy” with her tribute, but Nicole Scherzinger replied saying Tupac would be “turning over in his grave”.

And Simon Cowell added: “I don’t know what just happened… but here’s the weird thing, I loved it.”

Whether viewers liked her singing or not, the rapper is certainly gaining cult-like following on social media:

Honey G has sparked speculation that she is not genuine because of her amusing dance moves, outfits and attempts at street slang.
