A DELEGATION of business leaders from Savannah in the US state of Georgia were hosted by Wexford County Council on a three-day visit to the model county last week.

The visit, which followed a visit by Wexford Councillors to the area earlier this year, provided a prime opportunity for dignitaries from both regions to meet and promote investment, trade and tourism opportunities.

Over the course of the delegates’ trip, they met with senior staff from Wexford County Council, Wexford Chamber of Commerce and Visit Wexford.

They also visited the Wexford Enterprise Centre and Wexford IDA Park, where delegates met with teams at Wexford-based businesses which have their parent operations in Georgia State.

Along the way, the visitors also had time to enjoy some of the county’s finest tourist attractions.

Their itinerary included visits to Johnstown Castle, Kilmore Quay, the National Opera House, Enniscorthy Castle, Brooklyn Tour, Vinegar Hill, Loftus Hall, Hook Lighthouse, the Irish National Heritage Park and the Dunbrody Famine Ship & Emigrant Experience.

The visitors were honoured with a Civic Reception hosted by Mayor of Wexford Councillor Frank Staples and with a banquet dinner hosted by Wexford County Council Chairman Paddy Kavanagh.
